Coach Football in Australia

Sport Lived organise for people to coach football in schools in Australia.  We run football coaching programmes to Melbourne and Brisbane. 

During your coaching programme you will coach school teams where you will be organise training sessions during the week and prepare them for matches against other schools.  Most people coach U13-U16 teams.  Coaches get between 10 and 15 hours of work per week and are paid between £7 and £12 per hour. Coaching sessions are usually held between 3-6pm Monday – Thursday and between 8am - 12pm on Saturday mornings. 

You will coach football at some of the best sporting schools in Australia who all have lots of teams.  Some schools organise pre-season training camps.  A number of the schools in Brisbane, for example, organise training camps on the Gold Coast providing you with a great opportunity to visit a new part of the country and bond with players and fellow coaches.

There are also opportunities for people to become the football coaching co-ordinator for an entire year group. Should you gain this position, you will be responsible for managing the other coaches and organising training and coaching programmes for the pupils. 

You will live in 4 star apartments with people playing and coaching sport in the same city.  You will live with people playing and coaching football and other sports including netball, hockey and rugby.  Most people stay in 2 bedroom apartments and all Sport Lived participants stay in the same complex.

We recommend that people interested in coaching football in Australia obtain an FA Level 1 coaching qualification.  More information on this qualification and centres where coaching courses are being run can be found at the FA website: www.thefa.com/GrassrootsNew/Coach

You will need to obtain a First Aid qualification.  We recommend that people obtain a basic First Aid qualification from an organisation such as the St John’s Ambulance. 

Please Note:    If you are unable to obtain a football coaching or First Aid qualification prior to you departure please let us know.   Some schools are happy to employ people provided they have playing and coaching experience.   We can also enrol people on a coaching and First Aid course when you arrive in Australia.

Should you wish to play as well as coach football during your programme, we have affiliations with lots of good clubs and can arrange for you to join a club.
